KRB Students excelled in this year’s Waverley Youth Art Competition

KRB Art students excelled in this year’s Waverley Youth Art Competition.

The Mayor of Waverley Council, Paula Masselos, described the artworks as “very moving, capturing not only sincerity but also a level of sophistication in the way they were produced.”

She also described them as:

“Very brave, tackling difficult topics of global importance.”

 

Senior Category, 1st Place:

Gloria Lu, Lulu

Gloria’s work, Lulu was awarded first place in the Senior Category. The judges described the work as “absolutely beautiful” and spent a lot of time contemplating and discussing the nature of the artwork. Gloria has won a week at the National Art School for this outstanding painting.

Mayor’s Prize:

Eloise North, Colour Connections

Mayor’s Prize and Best Three-Dimensional Artwork:

Marie Khoury, Sunflowers in the Dark

Eloise and Marie were both awarded the Mayor’s prize for their artworks Colour Connections and Sunflowers in the Dark. Marie also was awarded another prize for the Best Three-Dimensional Artwork.

The Mayor also stated of all the works entered in the Waverley Youth Art competition, “I’ve got no doubt that all of our artists have a really successful future in the arts and I am so excited to be able to see where their careers are going to go.” Congratulations KRB Art students!
