Launching the KRB Country/City Immersion Program

Kincoppal-Rose Bay is excited to launch its new Country/City Immersion Program, available to our day students to become part of our boarding community in 2022.

The tradition of boarding dates back to 1882 when Rose Bay Convent was opened as part of the Sacred Heart network of schools. Since this time, our School has had strong ties to the rural communities of Australia. Following the amalgamation with Kincoppal, 50 years ago, KRB welcomed day and boarding students from rural Australia, international countries and Sydney city.

Country students come to KRB for the vast range of opportunities that are available to them. Living central in Australia’s largest city, there are many academic and extra-curricular programs available, as well as the experience to live in a city prior to university. In turn, our country students offer a richness and diversity to the school community.

Given our connection to rural communities, we would like to offer a mutually beneficial program for both our city and rural students with an immersion experience of a different lifestyle.

There is now an opportunity for Year 9 and 10 day students to become a boarder at KRB for a semester and participate in a rural experience, which will include spending some time in the term break at a KRB family property.

This program is designed to enhance awareness of the culture and lifestyle of regional Australian areas and the type of work that our country families do. Students will also take part in a social justice initiative to support the rural community. In this way, they will develop leadership skills and find new initiatives to make a positive impact. This program will give our students a greater understanding of the world around them and will develop character and resilience.

Day school families will offer a reciprocal program to enhance our rural students’ experience within the city, during a term break.

We look forward to seeing some of the exciting outcomes and experiences that our students will share together in our first Country/City Immersion experience in 2022.

If you would like to find out more about this program please contact our Admissions Team or register to attend a boarding information session. Current students can contact the Boarding Team for more information.
