Leading the Way for Youth Advocacy

Georgie Moustoukis, a Year 12 boarder from the Illawarra Shoalhaven region, is leading the way in youth advocacy. Georgie is one of eighteen young people across NSW nominated to be in the 2022 NSW Regional Youth Taskforce. The task force will meet with the Minister for Regional Youth, Hon. Ben Franklin MLC, four times throughout 2022. The key objective of the task force is to advise the minister on issues affecting young people living regionally in NSW. Their discussions focus on issues including mental health, access to employment and transport.

When reflecting on her aspirations for the task force Georgie hopes to provide a unique insight to the task force as a young female member who lives both in a regional and urban setting. Georgie aims to highlight the mental health issues arising across regional NSW and bring further awareness to and implement achievable strategic approaches to respond to issues of educational inequality, that has a widespread impact on the lives of young people today.

I hope to offer my dual perspective as a young boarding student living in both a regional and an urban area. Aiming to bring awareness to the often neglected regional area of Illawarra and Shoalhaven, I hope to have a valuable impact on the taskforce, and represent my demographic to the best of my ability.

Year 12 Boarding Student

Georgie is a true example of how boarding at Kincoppal-Rose Bay provides various opportunities to engage in the wider community, enabling students to live out their Sacred Heart education and contribute to the growth of all.
