This year, I began my four year degree a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) at the University of Sydney. I decided to stay in Sydney as it allowed me to be close to my work at KRB, where I am currently working as both Drama and Music administration assistant, in which I get to follow my passions of drama and music through opportunities such as producing the Junior Musical and Stage managing senior productions.
My passions for drama, stemming from my incredible KRB drama experience, have led me to choose theatre as one of my majors. I am also undertaking a French minor, and will go on exchange to a French speaking country in my third year, as my degree is the only one at USYD where exchange is mandatory.
Becoming a boarder at KRB in year twelve was such a positive experience for me, and it inspired me to attend residential college, as I currently reside at Sancta Sophia college. Whilst at Sancta, I have participated in Intercollegiate activities including Dance, Solo Drama, Group Vocal and Group Drama, all of which have been amazing opportunities to practice my passions for the performing arts and give me experience which I can take into my work at KRB. Additionally, I am currently volunteering at an Intercollegiate four day respite camp for the Sony Foundation, specialised for children with physical and intellectual disabilities.
I was also given the opportunity to try many new things, such as being part of the rowing squad, which although challenging at times as I have never rowed before, allowed me to grow and make many new friends.
Next year, I am remaining at Sancta, representing them as the Drama secretary and organising both Solo and Group Drama, as well as organising a production between Sancta and St. John’s College with current KRB alumnae Charlotte Laundy.
Whilst balancing extracurriculars, university, work and the social buzz of college is definitely tiring at times, I love the social nature and the fact that I am always given the opportunity to involve myself.
