  • Zoe Forrest, Class of 2020
Where are they now? 24 Nov 2021

Zoe Forrest, Class of 2020

I am studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management at Sydney University. I’ve been studying the regular pharmacy subjects including Chemistry and Biology, with some Business subjects, eg: The Foundations of Work and Employment and Marketing Principles. I also have a job as a pharmacy student which complements my learning really well.

Uni is very different from high school, in many great ways. You are able to study with people who are genuinely interested in your course, or subjects, and it feels so much more liberating! Whilst you have a massive amount of freedom, you also have to have so much self-motivation and direction which I personally found hard to adjust to.

There is a plethora of events and opportunities at Sydney Uni, back when we could be on campus. In Open week, there was free food and we were able to talk to all the various clubs and societies which was great and it highlighted the diversity of the students who are studying here.

COVID-19 has been a massive challenge for me, I am definitely not well suited for online learning. I wasn’t able to visit my family or my partner for months due to the restrictions about travelling regionally, coupled with living alone it was all very isolating. The transition to life after high school has been hard but I’m more than grateful to my family, friends and partner who have managed to help me stay sane. I’m looking forward to a year where COVID won’t have such a detrimental impact and we can live more freely.
